Even though it was expected, you have to respect Katelyn Tuohy's continued excellence on the biggest stage.
The North Rockland (NY) sophomore broke her own sophomore class record in the 3K on Friday at the New York state championships, racing to a US No. 1 time of 9:09.71, which also broke a 7-year-old state record of 9:16.63 previously held by Aisling Cuffe.
A week ago, Tuohy set a career best at the distance in the Section 1 State Qualifier, posting a time of 9:15.20.
The sophomore will return to the track on Saturday for the 1500m and will likely race a relay for North Rockland.
