What are all your personal records? What State Meet competitions have you been in, and what were your results?
Long Jump - 22'7.5"
Triple Jump - 47'1"
100m - 11.16
200m - 22.65
I went to the State Meet my junior year and got 2nd for triple jump and 3rd for the long jump.
How did you first get involved with track, and what other sports have you done?
I joined track in 6th or 7th grade wanting it to keep me in shape for football, then realizing that I did well in track.
Who are some of your favorite athletes to compete against?
Aahsan Maigag from Cloquet is always fun to run with and talk to during warm ups at meets.
What are your main goals for this track season?
My main goal in track is to better myself, make a name for myself, and be an icon for others.
What are you and your teammates looking forward to the most this year?
My teammates and I are looking forward to getting through the year with no injuries and good record.
What is a challenge, or challenges, you have had to face as an athlete? How did you work to overcome it?
My biggest challenge over the years is that I've been injury prone. I get hurt almost every year. Last year, it was a dislocated shoulder, the year before was a concussion, and the year before that was a shattered hip.
The only reason I made it back was because of the physical trainers that helped me get back into shape.
Who might we find cheering for you at competitions?
At almost of my sports events, you'll find my mother Jessica, best friend Shavante, and my mentor Rachel cheering for me.
Who are some people that have been most helpful to you in your athletic career, and how have they helped you?
My mother, teammates, friends, and coaches are the main reasons I do what I do on the track, field, and the court. They push me to do my best and without them I wouldn't be where I'm at currently in sports.
Tell me about one of your favorite non-competition-related track memories.
The memory that I will always remember and love was during my sophomore year. Almost every day, someone would sing a song, then one by one another person would join and sing along, even the coaches that were warming up with us would sing.
What is your favorite or most memorable competition you've ever been in?
Last year's section meet was a memorable competition. Everybody who made it to finals for 100 and 200 were all amazing athletes and all deserved to be there. Brody Holm from Grand Rapids was the best competition at sections and it was cool to see him at State with me in the next lane to my right.
