How did you get started as a track or cross country athlete?
Thought it would be fun to do track in middle school with my friends, after a couple years the sport stuck with me.
What was your most memorable competition?
The most recent section finals, mainly because it was my last sections and I ran my fastest 100m.
What was your greatest accomplishment as a track/XC athlete?
Breaking the section 100m and 200m records.
What is your most memorable non-competition moment as a track athlete?
During section finals last year in Moorhead it was raining hard, and the track camp filled with water, getting everyone's track bags wet.
Who were your biggest competitors in your track/XC career?
If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your track/XC high school?
Take it more seriously from the start, no cutting corners and putting in more effort off the track.
How have your coaches been an influence to you as an athlete and a person?
They have always been there to critique my running form and keep me pushing hard, without them, it's hard to say that i'd end up where I am now.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
Nerves before a race and getting in the blocks, for the longest time I had a problem with nerves, but it slowly went away as time passed.
What will you miss the most about high school track/XC?
My teammates, the coaches, and competitors.
What advice would you give to younger athletes?
High School only last so long, don't waste time not giving half-effort, you get out what you put in.
What are your post-graduation plans?
Go to University of Mary in Bismarck to run track and get a bachelors degree in biology.
Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?
I'd like to thank Coach Empting for sticking with me since freshman year, my family for keeping my confidence high even after a bad race, and my teammates for pushing me during practice.
