Last year Isabelle Schmitz burst on to the scene as a seventh grader and quickly made an impact. In her first year as a varsity runner she broke 19 minutes three times including a PR of 18:36.7 on the way to a 22nd place finish at State. In just her second year of track last spring, Schmitz made more waves with a pair of section 2AA titles in the 1600 & 3200m before finishing 9th/5th at State with PRs of 5:09.53/11:03.86. Similarly to Mosby, there may need to be another year of progress for Schmitz to truly be a title contender but such a bright start is worthy of statewide attention.
