While the LQPV/DB girls have been a powerhouse program for a long time, their boys counterparts have rarely hit the same heights in the same time period. However, after consecutive 11th, 6th, 4th, and 4th-place finishes at State, and returning six runners from their most-recent run at State, the Eagles boys are quickly turning into a powerhouse program themselves. Mikey Kvaal and Zeke Sather both were State entrants in both the 1600m and 3200m last track season, and they will be returning along with senior Griffin Johnson as runners who own personal bests under 17 minutes. With returning eleven runners who have run 19:00 or better (of which just three are seniors, and one of which will just be an eighth-grader), the Eagles are among the deepest teams in Class A too. With such good depth in place, the key for LQPV/DB to closing the gap and seriously competing with Perham and WCA will likely be the continued development of Kvaal and Sather. If those two runners as a duo can start putting up times to compete with the cream of the crop in Class A, and pull their teammates along with them, they will be a very difficult team to beat.
