WEST CENTRAL AREA (6)
West Central is in the very competitive section 6A that saw seven different schools place runners in the top ten at the section meet. The Knights were one of just two schools to get two in the single digits and both those athletes return this year. Lexi Bright (19:29) and Teagen Nelson (19:45) were those runners on a team that finished just two points behind Staples-Motley in the sectional title race. West Central returns six from the team that ended up ninth at state. The key this season will be the improvement of the projected third through fifth runners Bryn Fernholz (20:21), Terina Blascyk (20:56) and Kennedy Porter (21:41) to close a possible 1-5 gap of over two minutes. If they can get back to state as a team this year, the Knights top runners are strong enough to be among the top 20 team scoring athletes. Another top ten finish at will depend on closing the split and seeing depth develop at the sixth and seventh spots as well.
