The Ponies return six of seven from last year's fifth place state meet team and will be the favorites again in section 4AA where they turned in a slim 32 points in their title win last year. Among their returners is junior Analee Weaver, eighth at state last year and her PR of 17:52 places her among the five fastest returners in class AA. Freshman Avery Braunshausen was 11th at state last year and could give Stillwater two, single-digit scorers based on her PR of 18:09. However, if Stillwater wants to contend it looks like they will need spots 4-7 to improve from their current range around 19:00-20:30 and give the Ponies a fifth that probably needs to be under 19 minutes. The program has been as steady as any in the state but the difference in a team title and fifth place projects to be finding at least five runners who can go under 19 minutes, something that will need to develop during this season.
