Preview the One and Only Milaca Mega Meet

Considered one of the largest single day high school cross country events in the world, the one and only Milaca Mega Meet will be in its 49th iteration in 2019. With 18 races the meet will break it's old record with over 6700 registered runners from 170 teams registered to compete on Saturday. Held on the edge of Milaca, a town of less than 3000 residents, the meet raises the population to more than four times its usual size.The 18 races will start at 10am with the boys 8th graders and a new event will start every 15 minutes until the girls JV race ends bookends the day at 2:15pm.

Despite the large field and competitive races, the event usually takes less than five hours, not much longer than a usual weekend invitational. Temperatures have been above average in Minnesota recently and there is a possibility for some storms this Saturday so it seems that course records may be safe this year. Yet the field contains many of the state's top teams from both Class A and AA along with many of the fastest runners so far this season, anything is possible at Milaca. The course at Stones Throw Golf Course has remained the same for the last decade and should be familiar for returning fans and athletes.

**Our virtual meet projections are based on teams running their top 7 in the varsity races, yet its understood many underclassmen may run in the age group based races.
