6 BOLD Predictions for the 2022 MN Track & Field Season

Jarod White Will Break the Pole Vault State Record

Maybe the least bold prediction here, but still a bold one because state records don't get broken every season.

Jarod White last season became just the third Minnesota boy with a vault of 16 feet or over, and he comes into this season just 2 inches away from holding the state record by himself. White made major strides late in the season last year, with jumps of 15' 10", 16' 0", and 15' 9".

Jarod would have to post a jump of 16' 2" to pass Calvin Ciganik's record of 16' 1.75". Jarod has already said he wants the record, and more specifically wants to break the 5-meter mark in the pole vault, which would equate to a jump of 16' 5" that would easily break the state record.

He has already competed in a national competition once this season indoors at New Balance Indoor Nationals where he finished 11th with a jump of 15' 3". It took Jarod 12 meets last track and field season to break that mark in competition, so he's already a ways ahead of where he was at this point last season.
