The CBS Original series "Survivor" will return for its 44th season next month and for many Minnesota track and field fans, someone might look familiar.

That's because Sarah Wade, a 2014 graduate of Rochester Mayo High School, will be on this season's cast.

She follows a strong tradition of former track and field athletes cast for the network television series. In 2021, Alexander Hastings, a top-seven runner during his tenure for Florida state team champion Jacksonville Bolles School (FL), also featured on the show

Wade was a track and field standout for Rochester Mayo and was a 3-time state participant. She is part of the school record-holding 4x200m team from 2011.

While she is a longtime fan of the show, Wade's push to join Survivor came after her best friend Kalie passed away about two years ago, according to Parade.

"My best friend died two years ago, and the experience has given me the drive to pursue my dreams, grit to get through unpleasant experiences, and compassion for other people's unseen challenges," she said. "All three will fuel my 'Survivor' success."

"Kalie inspires me to be a bold, brave, badass person in everything that I do," Wade said. "She was all those things and more, and I am inspired to live in a way that would make her proud."

Wade is a management consultant in Chicago with finance and economics degrees.

As a high school student, Wade was involved in the National Honor Society, soccer, intramural basketball, track and field, student government, Key Club, robotics club and tennis.
