Competing at the MVP Vibe Fest in Chicago, Dwyne Smith Jr. of Apple Valley broke the 16-year-old Minnesota state high school record for the indoor 200m dash. Smith ran a time of 22.37 to finish 4th overall in the boy's invitational race at the meet.
Smith broke the previous state record of 22.39 set by Mounds View graduate Quinn Evans in 2007.

At the same meet Smith finished 3rd in the 400m dash with a time of 49.49. This is an indoor PR of 0.43 seconds and improved on his already Minnesota #3 time of 49.92 from earlier this month. He ranks only behind Quinn Evans (49.20) and Nate Roese (49.34).
