Poll: Minnesota Girls Runner of the Week (September 10-16)

The cross country season is off to a hot start and last week was the best yet with big meets all over the state, historic times, and more! It was a busy week with the Mayo Invitational, Lakeville AppleJack Invitational, Norwood-Young Lions Invite, and so much more!

Here we look at the Minnesota Girl's Runner of the Week Nominees for Week 4 of the cross country season. 

Polling starts on Monday at 7 am and ends on Saturday at 7 pm.

Girls Runner of the Week Nominees

Isabelle Schmitz (Hutchinson)

Schmitz won her third meet of the season at the Norwood-Young America Lions Invitational where she ran a season best time of 17:58.49 to win the girls varsity race by over a minute. Schmitz is the fourth Minnesota girl to run under 18-minutes this season and is only ten seconds off her PR this season. 

Grace Lewis-Mosher (St. Paul Highland Park)

A junior at St. Paul Highland Park, Grace saved her best for her first 5K of the season at the Eden Prairie Metro Invitational where she finished 4th overall with a huge PR of 18:38.60 to help lead the Highland Park girls to a 2nd place finish behind Minnetonka. Her previous PR was 19:29 from 2022. 

Rowan Bixler (Duluth East)

A rising senior star for Duluth East, Bixler competed at the Blaine Invitational where she ran a new PR of 18:43.60 to beat out three highly ranked Wayzata runners. Bixler has led the Duluth East girls to be the #5 ranked girls team in Minnesota this season. Bixlers performance was a 20 second PR. 

Claire Vukovics (Lakeville South)

Vukovics won the Lakeville AppleJack Invitational for the second year in a row with a time of 19:13.80 to beat out a strong field of runners. Dating back to 2019, Vukovics has now finished 1st, 1st, 5th, and 2nd at the AppleJack Invitational. 

Abbi Hutchinson (International Falls)

A senior at International Falls, Hutchinson has won her first four races of the season with the most recent coming at the Arrowhead Conference Championships where she ran a new PR of 19:26.30 to win by 24 seconds. Hutchinson has now run three-straight sub-20-minute 5Ks.
