Poll: Minnesota Boys Runner of the Week (September 24-30)

It was another big week for Minnesota cross country last week with huge meets like the Osseo Invitational, Farmington Cowbell Classic, and many more other meets across the state bringing together some of the top teams and runners in Minnesota. Every day we get closer to championship season and the performances below highlight some of those individuals who made statements ahead of October. 

Here we look at the Minnesota Boy's Runner of the Week Nominees for Week 6 of the cross country season. 

Polling starts on Monday at 7 am and ends on Saturday at 7 pm.

Boys Runner of the Week Nominees

Aiden Jakubic (Lakeville South)

Jakubic had his highest-ever race finish at the Farmington Cowbell Classic where he finished in 2nd place with a time of 16:16.3 to lead the Lakeville South boys to a big team victory. Jakubic led the Lakeville South boys to a team average of 16:51 at the meet which was a season-best and led them to their first team victory of the season against a strong field. 

River Santiago (Blaine)

Santiago dominated at the Osseo Invitational where he won his fifth race of the season with a time of 15:38.77 to beat out Cade Sanvik by 15 seconds. This was a new 4-second PR for Santiago. Santiago also led the Blaine boys to a dominant meet victory scoring 37 points to Belle Plaines 82 points. 

David Obst (Kasson-Mantorville)

At the Steve Johnson/Dan Houston Invitational Obst ran a massive PR to finish first overall at the meet with a time of 15:37.10. His previous personal best had been 16:00.56 from 2022. Obst ranks #13 overall for the 5K in Minnesota this year and #5 in Class AA. 

Ryder Mold (Saint Francis)

Mold ran a Minnesota 7th-grade class-best time of 18:40.80 at the Becker Invitational. Mold finished 2nd overall in the boy's JV race, but his time would've placed him 14th in the varsity race. In both of his 5Ks this season, Ryder has run under 20 minutes at both meets. Nationally Mold ranks #23 for the Class of 2029.

Salvador Wirth (Annandale)

Wirth won his fifth race of the year at the Dassel-Cokato Invitational where he finished with a time of 15:55.20 for his third sub-16-minute 5K of the season. Wirth ranks #7 for the 5K in Class AA this season and #19 overall in Minnesota.
