Minnetonka Girls Dominate for State True Team Title

The Minnetonka girls dominated the competition in all aspects en route to their fifth State True Team title (2024, 2023, 2022, 2017, 1992) and their third consecutive team title in a row. The girls were led by individual titles from Zeal Kuku in the 100m, a team win in the 4x200m relay, the 1600m title from Evie Malec, a 4x100m relay title, both hurdles title from Claire Kohler, a high jump victory from Mya Folken, and a 4x400m relay win. Alongside those wins, they also procured top finishes from Evie Malec in the 800m (2nd), Zeal Kuku in the 200m (3rd) and 400m (2nd), and a 2nd place finish in the 4x800m.

Mounds View Boys Take Home First Title Since 2007

Taking home their first title since 2007 and their 9th title overall, the Mounds View boys got contributions across the board in all disciplines to take home the title by almost 100 points over Blaine. The Mounds View boys were led by individual victories from Luke Van Oort in the discus and Colin Elliott in the triple jump. Otherwise they notched twelve top-five finishes in all events and numerous other top-ten finishes to rack up enough points for the team title.

Emma Kvant Lowers Her Own Record with Historic Time

Continuing her dominant season, Emma Kvant continued her undefeated season with a historic race at the True Team State Championships. Kvant ran a time of 54.11, running one of the best times in state history and lowering her own class record. Her time of 54.11 now ranks as the #3 time in Minnesota state history, only behind Jordyn Borsch and Honour Finley.

Kvant also lowered her own Minnesota state sophomore class record, beating her previous time of 54.32 from this year's Hamline Elite Meet. She also ranks favorably among her peers this outdoor season, ranking tied for 31st nationally this outdoor season and ranking 9th for her class nationally.

Rosemount Boys 4x100m Relay Team Notches Historic Time

The Rosemount boys team of Riddik Collier, Kelan Johnson, Kavari Flowers and Kwabena Yawson broke the Rosemount school record in the 4x100m relay, while also notching a historically great time of 42.10. This is now the new #1 time in Minnesota this season, beating out 42.27 set by Rochester Mayo earlier this week. Their time of 42.10 also ranks tied for 18th all-time in Minnesota, with Roseville (1999) and Eastview (2002).

Kohler Notches the Double Win the Stay Undefeated

Notching another double win in the 100m and 300m hurdles, Minnetonka's Claire Kohler stayed undefeated on the season in the hurdles event, making history in the process. In the 100m hurdles, she dominated with a time of 14.40, winning by nearly a second. This ranks as her fastest wind-legal time this season and marks the second year in a row winning this event at True Team State. 

In the 300m hurdles she was even better. Kohler finished with a time of 42.57, winning by nearly a whole second. This was a massive PR for Kohler as she finished almost half a second better than her old PR of 43.03. In breaking that 43-second barrier, she became the tenth Minnesota girl all-time to break that barrier. In doing so, she moved from 10th on the all-time 300m hurdles list in Minnesota, up to 5th all-time.

Three's a Charm for Tobias Williams 

We knew coming into the season that Tobias Williams was one of the best sprinters in Minnesota, he backed up that claim and even more, winning both the 100m and 200m titles at True Team State. In the 100m, he dominated with a time of 10.83, winning by over a tenth of a second, to win his second consecutive True Team State 100m title. In the 200m, he finished with a time of 22.17 to narrowly beat out Edina's Cooper Drake. Overall this season, Williams ranks as the #2 200m runner in Minnesota and the #3 100m runner. 

On top of his sprint exploits, Williams also finished won the long jump title with a huge PR of 23' 4". This beats his told PR of 22' 1.5" and currently ranks as the #2 mark in Minnesota this season behind Carter Reckelberg (23' 6.75").
