Minnesota Middle School Track & Field: Late May Highlights

Boys

At the Mississippi 8 MS Championship, Kaiden Bethke of Becker High School won both the 100m dash and long jump. The 8th grade leaped 17-6 in the long jump and set a new lifetime best in the 100m in 11.54. Bethke leads middle school over the sprint distance.

In the 100m and 200m, Davin Winge claimed both titles at the District 196 MS Boys Championship. The 7th grader from Scott Highlands Middle School ran 12.19 in the 100m and 24.64 in the 200m- both lifetime bests.

Wesley Zimmerman of Stewartsville High School won the boys' pole vault at the KOMET Junior High Elite Meet. The 8th grader cleared a personal best of 10-6 and improved to #1 in the state among middle schoolers.

In the middle distances, Aiden Glass dominated the field at the District 196 MS Boys Championship. The 8th grader from Falcon Ridge Middle School set personal bests of 2:11.96 in the 800m and 4:46.01 in the 1600m as he took first place in both events.

Michael Marquis of Stephen-Argyle Central High School won the boys' shot put and discus titles at the TRF Middle School Meet #3. The 8th grader dominated the ring, throwing 36-9 in the shot put and 134-6 in the discus- both lifetime bests.

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School's Brittan Young won the 100m dash title at the WHA C Level Meet. The 8th grader set a new personal best and state-leading mark for middle schoolers as she crossed the line in a blazing 12.37.

At the Eastern Carver County MS Triangular, Claire Newman won the girls' long jump and 100m dash. The 8th grader from Waconia High School leaped a personal record of 18-10 and returned to the track with another best of 14.28. Newman leads the state in the long jump.

In the 800m and 1600m, Maggie Judd of Pine City High School took the victory at the KOMET Junior High Elite Meet. The 7th grader clocked a 5:33.72 in the 1600m and later achieved a new personal best in the 800m of 2:32.26, where she leads the state.

Lima Radach leads her class in the pole vault after her performance at the KOMET Junior High Elite Meet. The 7th grader from Rockford High School matched her personal best by clearing 9-0 to take the win.

Over in the throwing ring at the KOMET Junior High Elite Meet, Maya Romens won the girls' shot put title. The 7th grader from Stewartville High School threw a lifetime best of 36-8 and leads her class in the event.
