Belle Plaine’s Janessa Meuleners, right, and Mayer Lutheran’s Hannah Truniger ran side-by-side well in front of the pack for much of Thursday’s race at NYA’s Baylor Park. Meuleners managed to pull away from Truniger late in the race and successfully defend her MRC individual title in a course record-setting time of 14:39.9, almost 16 seconds ahead of Truniger.
