Conference Championships Begin - Tuesday Meets

Location: Crosslake Community Center

Weather: Low 50s and sunny with nearly no wind.

BOYS

Top Teams: Detroit Lakes (32 points), Wadena-Deer Creek (52), Staples-Motley (67)

Top Individuals: Emmet Anderson (Staples-Motley, 16:27 SB), Tanner Olson (Detroit Lakes, 16:35 SB), Noah Ross (Wadena-Deer Creek, 16:57 SB), Reid Pierzinski (Pequot Lakes, 10th returner from Class A State Meet)

The Skinny: Anderson, the freshman phenom ranked 5th in Class A will look to show that he may be in contention for the individual crown come November. Olson could provide some competition, as their season bests are only 8 seconds apart. Pierzinski is a wild card, as he was All-State last XC season, but has been hurt much of this fall. Detroit Lakes is projected to put 4 in the top 10, so look for them to win fairly easily.

GIRLS

Top Teams: Detroit Lakes (60 points), Pequot Lakes (72), Staples-Motley (73)

Top Individuals: Kira Sweeney (Staples-Motley, 19:46 SB), Addison Lorber (Staples-Motley, 20:44 SB), Ashley Robben (Staple-Motley, 20:44 SB)

The Skinny: The runner to watch will be Kira Sweeney of Staples-Motley, who took 7th at last year's Class A State Meet. The team battle features three teams that are very close in skill level. With Staples-Motley projected to take the top three spots, it looks like it will come down to the performance of their 4th and 5th runners versus the overall depth of Detroit Lakes.
