Conference Championships Begin - Tuesday Meets

Weather: Low 50's, mostly sunny, light wind

BOYS

Top Teams: Hutchinson (50 points), Math & Science Academy (69), New Prague (87), Class A #12 Jordan (99)

Top Individuals: Class A #7 Harris Anderson (Math & Science Academy, 16:22), Class A #8 Owen Keiser (Jordan, 16:30), Lane Schwarz (LeSueur-Henderson, 16:41), Mitchell Grand (Henderson, 16:45), Symon Keiser (Jordan, 16:52)

The Skinny: Coming off a great Swain performance, Harris Anderson will get a chance to face another of Class A's top runners in Owen Keiser, who last ran over a week ago at the Willmar Invitational (due to the Waseca Invitational getting cancelled last week). The two-time All-State senior has been very consistent this year running under 16:53 in all five of his races, and with four top-five finishes, and has faced almost all of Class A's top talent this year. Those two will certainly be battled strongly, however, by several others, like Mitchall Grand. Grand hopes to lead his Hutchinson squad to victory, as does Keiser's  and his Jordan squad (which has yet to run a race in favorable conditions, hence their low virtual meet score), but MSA's muddy Swain performance is strong evidence they they, and not Hutchinson or Jordan, could actually be the meet's top team.

GIRLS

Top Teams: New Prague (65 points), Delano (70), Hutchinson (80), LeSueur-Henderson (94)

Top Individuals: Tierney Wolfgram (Math & Science Academy, 17:49), Victoria Flores (LeSueur-Henderson, 19:46), Makayla Maher (Hutchinson, 20:13), Grace Jostock (Delano, 20:15)

The Skinny: Tierney Wolgram is by far the best runner in the field, but considering she just ran on Saturday and presumably will have a much longer season than most other athletes, don't be surprised if she sits this one out. If she does, Virctoria Flores will try to ride the wave from her breakout home invitational where she dropped her season-best by over a minute. New Prague is the team favorite thanks to their projected 27-second spread, while Delano's is four-times that length. Still it should be a tight race overall.
