Salute To Seniors: Brady Speicher - Perham High School

What was your most memorable race?

My most memorable race would be the class A state meet in 2011, we lost by one point to St.Cloud Cathedral, I’ll never forget looking at the results board and seeing we lost by one point.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

St. Cloud Cathedral would be my biggest team competition, we always go back and forth, I have tons of respect for those guys. But individually it would be my teammates, we push each other every day to the max.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

Winning a National title for the small school division this past year, and seeing my coach Jeff Morris win National coach of the year.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would go back and try to enjoy it more, the time goes by so fast and I wish I would have knew that 6 years ago!

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The biggest obstacle I have came to realize is myself, making yourself believe you can do what you want to do is the hardest part. Running is mentally tough and there are times you just don’t want to out the door, but you make yourself do it.

What will you miss the most?

My coaches and teammates, they are the reason I became the runner I am.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

Running is a great sport to try out; it has both an individual and team aspect. Never give up on your goals!

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coach has prepared me for the future both in the real world and for running. He has taught me many life lessons and has showed me that you can do anything you set your mind to.

What are your college plans?

Next Fall I will be attending Minnesota State University in Moorhead to be on their cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams, I plan on majoring in Business Administration.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

Everyone who has supported me over my career, especially my parents they have been my biggest fans and are always there for me (especially when I need a new pair of running shoes).
