The Perham boys cross country team continued a season on firsts after winning the Lucky Lindy Invitational in Little Falls defeating ranked teams from Class 1A and 2A.
Keeghan Hurley won his third individual title in three races this year finishing just two seconds off the course record running a 15:36. Billy Beseman placed 3rd in 16:10, Jayden Cullen fourth in 16:24, Ben Sullivan 16th in 16:56, Chris Knutson 33rd in 17:19, Kanyon Edvall 39th in 17:35 and freshman Jacob Dickerson 47th in 17:55.
The boys won by more than 50 points over Bemidji and Hopkins. In week one, Perham defeated Bemidji by 21 points taking the Yellowjackets' first-ever Shocky Strand title in Moorhead. Hopkins is a top 10 team in Class 2A at No. 8. Bemidji has been receiving votes in the coaches poll.
The girls team had an impressive showing with four girls running as fast as top girl last year. Perham finished 58 points out of second place behind Alexandria and Hopkins, both 2A schools.
Brynnan Covington led girls with a season best 15:49 for 20th, Lizzie Fudge 15:55 in 23rd, Sydney Karels in 29th 16:04, Mary Riestenberg in 31st with a 16:11, Racole Karels in 59th in 16:59, Kayla Hodgden 84 in17:32, and Emma Sweere 105 in 18:56.
