Meleah Biermaier (Thief River Falls) secured the top spot in poll for Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year with over 50% of the votes. We had over 2,800 votes tallied, making our poll for Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year one of our top articles!
Biermaier has certainly earned the spot at the top, with 4 state appearances in the 100 meter hurdles and 4 state appearances in the 300 meter hurdles. She has dominated in the longer event as a two-time state champ (2012 and 2015) and two-time runner up (2013 and 2014). She not only earned the state title in 2015, she broke the Class AA record set the previous day in prelims, and the all-time MSHSL state record, previously set in 1987, running a 42.13! Biermaier will be a senior in the fall and has the opportunity to defend her state title.
