Jake Derouin, Eden Prairie, Sr.
For the second year in a row, Jake Derouin threw down crazy times on the track. He lowered his sophomore PRs of 4:21.97/9:20.73 to 4:18.27/9:14.57, and advanced to the first State Track Meet of his career. At State, Derouin had the performance of his season, emerging at the front of the chase pack to take third, the highest placement of any returner. Derouin's 2018 cross country campaign was a bit up and down, as he finished 151st at both State and NXN Heartland. However, Derouin broke 16:00 twice and was All-State as a sophomore, so a consistent postseason should place him on the podium. While we've already seen Derouin's proficiency on the track, expect him to finally make the leap to the upper echelon on the grass.
