Nick Oak, Buffalo, Sr.
Another runner who has elevated himself is Nick Oak. Oak had a strong junior cross country season, running as the second or third man on a formidable Buffalo squad. However, he truly broke out during track. At sections, Oak dropped PRs in both the 1600m and 3200m, in times of 4:19.87 and 9:23.30. In both of those races, he edged out Nick Scheller for the second State berth (behind his teammate Isaac Basten). Oak would go on to place sixth in the 3200m, third best among returners. With 3200m State champion Basten graduating, Oak will be the new leader for the Bison. Oak's personal best on the grass is 16:16, a time he should be expected to smash this fall.
