HOPKINS (RV)
Hopkins sent three runners to the state meet last season and finished third at the much discussed 6AA meet. Though those three athletes graduated, the Royals return a crew of nine runners who have already gone under 18 minutes with three of those having gone well under 17 minutes. While what we know right now makes it difficult to see Hopkins getting through their own section meet, the program's history speaks similarly to that of the other teams we've mentioned. The talent and system is in place. With three underclassmen having already gone under 16:45 and another top seven returner in place it's a matter of watching how the next generation of Royals develops. The coaches poll has them receiving votes already, indicating that there is respect for the program and expectations that when it matters, Hopkins is in contention.
