Stillwater remains the team to beat yet again in section 4AA once again in 2019. The question is can they improve on last year's fourth place state finish and win the meet. For most programs losing their top three including and five of seven would mean a rebuilding year. However, the Ponies bring back four under 17 minute runners and a swarm of seven others who have run faster than 17:55. Top returner Ethan Vargas ran 16:11 at NXR last season and the split back to the current fifth best time is just over a minute where several runners have come in around 17:15. A program well-known for depth is almost guaranteed to have another group of state level runners emerge to be under 17 minutes. The question everyone else across the state wants to know and what will decide the Ponies fate at the state level is how many reach that level in 2019. Even if it's just one or two, Stillwater will once again be a top five team at state.
