MSHSL Announces Track and Field 2021 Rules and Restrictions

---

The MSHSL has announced the new temporary rules and restrictions for the 2021 track and field season. The new rules are based on how Minnesota is handling the pandemic and what the state and the MSHSL think is best for all the athletes.

Guidance and information is subject to change based on the most current information, directives from state government and health department officials and member school feedback.

Though nothing has been said about a potential date for the state track and field championships, we hope that the recent lift of restrictions on pro sporting teams in Minnesota bodes well for the future of the state meet in June.

Start Date: March 29, 2021
First Competition Date: April 8, 2021
Last date for Sections: June 12, 2021
State Meet Date: TBD
Season End Date: June 19, 2021

Maximum number of regular season meets: 14
No limit per contests per week
Maximum 5 schools per meet

With meets with 5 schools at it, those teams are allowed to have a maximum of 50 athletes and coaches. With meets with 4 or fewer schools, those teams are allowed to have a maximum of 62 athletes and coaches at the meet.
