Minnesota T&F State Meet Day 3 Recap - Class AA

Class AA Girls Recap

4x800m

The Wayzata girls led from start to finish in the girls 4x800 on their way to the state title in the event. They posted a time of 9:08.02, which crushed their previous state-best time of 9:20.70. Three girls teams beat the winning time from 2019, Wayzata, Minnetonka, and St. Paul Highland Park.

100m Hurdles

Even though Ruby Pajibo gave her best, on her way to a new PR, race favorite Ava Cinnamo persevered on her way to her first state title. Cinnamo posted a time of 14.49 to edge out Pajibo who ran a 14.56. Seven girls posted times under 15.00 seconds.

100m

Maddie Dahlien won the first of her many events that she is running today. Well, she barely won!! Dahlien and Alexis Pratt tied for first at 11.99, and after further review, Dahlien edged out Pratt 11.982 - 11.985. That definitely has to be the closest margin of victory in state meet history!

The Class AA girls 100m was one of the fastest in state history. In 2019 Maddie Dahlien ran a 12.35 for a second-place finish in the 100m finals. This year, eight girls bested that time!!! Dahlien, Pratt, Aaliyah Heine, Mackenzie Jacobson, I'Tianna Salaam, Tamia Horton, Mini Jallah, and Brenna Deason

1600m

If I had told you that Analee Weaver ran a 4:51.45 1600m, and didn't win, would you believe me?

Ali Weimer ran a blistering 4:49.93 to win the Class AA girls 1600m and beat out Isabella Roemer who ran 4:50.37 and Weaver. Weimers time is now the 12th fastest time all-time by a Minnesota girl. Roemers time gives her the 13th fastest time all-time by a Minnesota girl.

The top three runners Weimer, Roemer, and Weaver all posted times better than the winning time of 4:52.69 that Lauren Peterson ran in 2019. Only two runners in 2019 ran sub 5 minutes, seven runners ran under 5 minutes at the 2020 state meet.

In her last high school race ever, 2017 1600m state champion and 2016 XC state champion, Anna Fenske set a new PR in the 1600m of 4:53.94 to place fourth overall. Her previous PR of 4:54.72 came back in 2017.

400m

Maddie Dahlien won her second event of the day when she ran a 55.48 400m to take that title. She beat out second-place finisher Laubenra Ben who ran a 56.54. Dahliens time of 55.48 is a new PR for her by half a second and the 16th fastest time all-time by a Minnesota girl.
