BOLD Predictions for the St. Olaf High School Showcase Meet

Perhams Jacob McCleary Will Win the Boys Race

With no meets at St. Olaf since to 2019 MSHSL State Cross Country Championships, experience on the course will come in handy, and not many runners have more experience on the course than, Jacob McCleary

McCleary has run the course at St. Olaf five times (3 State Championships, 2 High School Showcases). We think the sixth time will be the charm and he will finally come away with a win at St. Olaf.

McCleary is coming off a breakthrough track season where he won the Class A 800m title and was the runner-up finisher in the 1600m. This was his first time winning a state title, and we believe that momentum going into his senior season will be of great benefit.

McCleary also has had two very strong cross country seasons in a row, but we obviously believe he is saving the best for his senior season. He finished the last cross country season 4th at the TCRC XC showcase and he also finished 4th in the Class A race at the 2019 State XC Meet.

He is the top-ranked Class A returner from the last state meet at St. Olaf and the 31st ranked returner in the state for this fall. He will have to beat out 11 other Coaches Poll ranked returners to take the title at this meet. That includes Alden Keller, Elliott McArthur, Daniel Vanacker, and Sam Scott.
