You look at the top all-time marks in the shot put and discus and one thing that stands out is the utter domination that Maggie Ewen had in Minnesota during her high school career. Ewen went undefeated in all competitions in 2011, 2012, and 2013 in both events, and was also undefeated in 2010 in the discus. She owns both state records in the shot put in the discus and by large margins. She holds an advantage of 2' 3.75" in the shot put and an advantage of 8' 3" in the discus.

Overall, Ewen owns 11 of the top 20 shot put marks of all-time and 15 of the top 20 discus marks of all-time. She parlayed her success in Minnesota to the national level in 2013 when she won both the shot put and discus title at New Balance Outdoor Nationals.
