Poll: Minnesota Male Cross Country Runner of the Week

It was another full week for cross country in Minnesota last week with meets going on all around the state, times getting faster and faster, and with championship season on the horizon, things will just get better and better. 

Here we look at those five chosen runners to see what merited their inclusion in this week's poll for Minnesota male runner of the week. 

Each week of the season you will have the chance to vote for a male and female runner of the week, based on the previous week's meet results.

So without further ado, here are this week's nominees for the Minnesota male cross country runner of the week for October 2nd through the 8th.

Nolan Sutter came away with his second major win of the season at the Alexandria Lions Meet of Champions where he beat out the rest of the field with a time of 15:34.20 to beat out Sully Anez by 4 seconds. Sutter currently ranks #6 in Minnesota for 5K time. Last year Sutter placed 4th at the same meet, he beat out that time by 33 seconds this year. 

Andrew Casey led the Lakeville North boys to their 4th meet victory of the season and finished first at the Owatonna Ev Berg Invitational with a new PR of 15:16.95. This was a nice 8 second PR for Casey and is the #2 time in Minnesota this season. With their team average of 15:48, the Lakeville North boys are the top-ranked team in Minnesota this season. 

Bjorn Anderson led the top Class A ranked Perham boys to a meet victory at the Perham Harrier Invitational where he finished 1st with a PR of 15:37.10. Anderson won the meet by over 13 seconds over Ethan Starfield of Lakeville South and led the Perham boys to a 32 point victory. Anderson is now the #1 ranked individual in Class A by time. 

Hamza Mohamed led the Wayzata boys to a near-perfect score at the STMA Invite where he secured his first win of the season with a season-best time of 15:40.70. Wayzata scored 21 points to win by 49 points over Eden Prairie and had a 15:59 scorers average time which now ranks #3 in Minnesota overall. 

George Edgar didn't finish as the #1 runner for Rosemount at the Owatonna Ev Berg Invitational but may have had the biggest impact. Edgar finished 7th overall at the meet with a huge PR of 15:51.71 to PR by 45 seconds. Edgar helped the Rosemount boys post a scorers average 5K time of 15:52 to finish 2nd behind Lakeville North by just two points. Edgar was the team's 3rd finished overall.
