Over the past two cross country seasons, Scott has proven to be one of the best runners in Minnesota and the Heartland region. Over that two-year span he has won seven races, won a Roy Griak title, a Section 6AAA title, finished 2nd at state, and has a 4th place finish at NXR Heartland.
Scott's best 5K time came at last years MSHSL Section 6AAA XC Championships where he ran a time of 15:08.69 to beat out some top tier talent in Aidan Jones, Noah Breker, and Hamza Mohamed for the section title in Minnesota's fastest section.
Sam Scott Minnesota State XC Championships Results
Year | Time (5K) | Place |
2022 | 15:15.30 | 2nd |

In national and regional level cross country competitions, Scott has continually shown up with high finishes such as 14th at the 2022 NXR Heartland and 31st at the 2022 Champs Sports Midwest Regional. Bigger goals might be on the horizon though.
Scott currently ranks as the top Minnesota senior boy and the #2 boys returner in Minnesota only behind Robert Mechura. Looking at the region, Scott ranks as the #8 boys returner for the whole Nike Heartland region and the #24 returner from Champs Sports Midwest.
Being one of the best returners in the Heartland and Champs Midwest regions, Scott will have ample opportunities to show why he not only deserves his #37 preseason ranking but why he should rank higher.
Currently, Scott should run against top competition at the St. Olaf High School Showcase, Roy Griak Invitational, Section 6AAA Championships, the State XC Championships, NXR Heartland, and more.
