Poll: Minnesota Girls Runner of the Week (August 24-26)

The cross country season officially started last week on Thursday when the first Minnesota cross country meets were run. The first week of cross country is usually slower than the rest, but that didn't stop our runner of the week nominees from running some remarkable times, historic results, and huge PRs.

Here we look at the Minnesota Girl's Runner of the Week Nominees for Week 1 of the cross country season. 

Polling starts on Monday at 7 am and ends on Saturday at 7 pm.

Girls Runner of the Week Nominees

Mia Hoffmann (Bemidji)

Continuing her momentum from a stellar track and field season, Bemidji senior Mia Hoffmann ran an incredible race at the Brave Like Gabe Invite to finish 2nd with a huge PR of 17:52.0. This is a huge improvement of her old PR of 18:25.69 from last years state meet. Hoffmann currently ranks 25th nationally in the 5K this season. 

Sydney Drevlow (Hopkins)

Drevlow a junior at Hopkins ran a stellar race at the Brave Like Gabe Invite to win with a time of 17:35.8, winning by 16 seconds over Mia Hoffmann. Drevlow ran the third fastest 5K time in August by a Minnesota girl ever, only behind Emily Covert (17:07.90) and Tierney Wolfgram (17:28.30). Drevlow currently ranks 15th in the 5K nationally. 

Macy Hanson (Fairmont)

Hanson won the Fairmont Early Bird Invite for the second year in a row, running a 4K time of 16:31.90. Hanson dominated the race winning by over a minute and recording the #1 4K time in Minnesota this year. Last year Hanson also recorded the #1 4K time in Minnesota (15:40.60). 

Annika Hall (Chisago Lakes)

A rising 8th-grade star, Hall ran at the St. Cloud Apollo Early Bird Invitational where she won the meet over teammate Kaia Osmundson with a time of 19:29.96. This was just five seconds off Hall's personal best from her 7th-grade season and ranks #4 for her class nationally this season. 

Lilah Bartels (Eagan)

Bartels ran at the CP Rebels Northwoods Invitational where she ran a time of 12:01.63 in the 2-mile to take the win by 10 seconds. Bartels led the Eagan girls to a strong 2nd place finish behind the Edina girls at the meet. Bartels ranks #1 in the 2-mile in Minnesota this season.
