The cross country season is off to a hot start and last week was the best yet with big meets all over the state, historic times, and more! It was a busy week with the Mayo Invitational, Lakeville AppleJack Invitational, Norwood-Young Lions Invite, and so much more!
Here we look at the Minnesota Boy's Runner of the Week Nominees for Week 4 of the cross country season.

Boys Runner of the Week Nominees
Nick Hansen (St. Johns Prep)
Hansen competed at the Little Crow Invitational where he finished 1st overall with a time of 15:59.03 to run a 29-second PR to run his first-ever sub 16-minute 5K. After finishing second overall at his first two races of the season, he got his first win this fall.
Fanuel Wolday (Worthington)
Wolday competed at his home meet in the Worthington Turkey Trot where he finished first in a dominant performance with a time of 15:28.93. This was a 14-second PR for Wolday and is just his second-ever sub 16-minute 5K after doing it at last years Turkey Trot.
Robert Mechura (Roseville)
In his first 5K of the season, Mechura made a statement at the Eden Prairie Metro Invitational where he ran a time of 15:04.20 to take the win by 32 seconds. His time ranks #2 in Minnesota this season and ranks #16 all-time in Minnesota for all boys XC performances.
Cade Sanvik (Osseo)
Sanvik took his third win of the season at the Lakeville AppleJack Invitational where he finished with a time of 15:49.50 to take the win by 17 seconds. Sanvik's time is the 8th fastest winning time at the AppleJack Invitational all-time.
Owen Stuwe (Shakopee)
A sophomore at Shakopee, Stuwe has turned into a rising star in Minnesota going from a 17:16.60 PR in 2022 to a 15:56.23 PR at last week's Nightfall Classic. At the meet, Stuwe led the Shakopee boys to a meet victory over nine Wisconsin schools. This was Stuwe's first win at the 5K distance and his second win of 2023.
