Several Minnesota high school athletes posted personal bests during competition from April 27-May 1.
Caden Hynes (Plainview-Elgin-Millville) threw 50-11 in the shot put at the 1A True Team Futures meet on May 1, improving from his previous best of 41-2. The mark ranks #34 in Minnesota and #1 among freshmen. Hynes also set a personal record in the discus with 131-9, up from 118-0.
Kahlan Johnson (Brainerd) ran 2:19.48 in the 800 meters at the Wayzata Relays on May 1, dropping nearly seven seconds from her previous best of 2:26.07 set in April 2026. The time places her 4th among 25 competitors and ranks #24 in the state.
Brooke Zierden (Fergus Falls) threw 142-0 in the discus at the Craig Fredrickson Invite on April 30, breaking the school record and improving from her previous mark of 127-10. The throw won the event among 33 competitors and ranks #3 in Minnesota and #2 among seniors.
Alex Pooler (Sartell-Saint Stephen) clocked 52.34 in the 400 meters at the Buffalo Invitational on April 28, cutting more than four seconds from his previous best of 56.47. The junior finished 3rd among 13 runners and ranks #124 in the state and #29 among juniors.
Landon Mork (Prior Lake) ran 11.31 in the 100 meters at the Edina Invitational on May 1, improving from 12.10 set in April 2026. The freshman placed 4th among 21 runners and ranks #142 in Minnesota and #5 among freshmen.
Riesley Barr (Minnetonka) ran 11:20.76 in the 3200 meters at the Wayzata Relays on May 1, improving from 11:44.86. The freshman finished 2nd among 25 runners and ranks #26 in the state and #2 among freshmen.
Amelia Bonestroo (Stillwater) won the 3200 meters at the Wayzata Relays in 11:20.61, improving from 11:44.48. The sophomore's time ranks #25 in Minnesota and #5 among sophomores.
