Minnesota Middle School: State Leaders and Lifetime Bests

Boys

Davontay Marklowitz won the boys' 200m at the MS 8 Conf MS Triangular- Becker Meet, setting a new state-leading mark in the event. The 8th grader from Becker High School set a new lifetime best of 24.02 as he crossed the line.

Minnetonka East's Lucas Jensen claimed the win and a new state-leading in the long jump. At the Minnetonka MS Coed Meet, the 8th grader leaped 23-7, securing the win and a new personal best.

Over the middle distances, Aiden Glass of Falcon Ridge Middle School finished third in the 400m and won both the 800m and 1600m at the District 196 MS at Eastview Meet. The 8th grader clocked all-new personal bests: 1:00.73 in the 400m, 2:15.66 in the 800m, and 4:53.44 in the 1600m. Glass is ranked #2 in the half-mile and #3 in the mile among Minnesota middle schoolers.

At the Gopher Conference Jr High Championships, Jace Tuma-Brezina of Kenyon-Wanamingo High School won the boys' 200m and high jump titles. Taking each win in personal bests, Tuma Brezina ran 25.26 in the 200m and cleared 5-8. The 8th-grader is currently ranked #1 in the state in the high jump.

In the 300m hurdles, TJ Ortloff of Deer River High School dominated the field at the JH IRC Championship (7-9). The 8th grader clocked a lifetime best 48.63 to take first and improve his state ranking to #3 overall.

Girls

7th grader Kinsley Fairchild of Wayzata won the girls' high jump at the Wayzata Middle School District Meet. Fairchild set a new lifetime best and took over state-leading status with her 5-1 clearance.

Another standout 7th grader from Wayzata is Leia Hulett. At the Wayzata Middle School District Meet, Hullett won the 200m and 400m in lifetime bests. She clocked a 27.29 in the 200m and 1:01.22 in the 400m to claim the gold.

For Wayzata's middle-distance stars, Catherine Williams stands out from her performance on the track. At the Wayzata Middle School District Meet, the 7th grader won the 800m in 2:33.90 and 5:36.03 in the mile to take second. She achieved personal bests in both races.

Your top-ranked Minnesota middle school discus throw is Forest Lake Area High School's Alayna Daraitis. At the Forest Lake MS Quadrangular meet, the 8th grader threw a personal best of 100-4. She also went on to win the 100m in 14.12 and the 200m in a PR of 29.21.

Kaylee Corbett of Mankato East High School is ranked #1 in the girls' long jump after her performances at the Faribault Middle School Meet. The 8th grader leaped 18-8.5 to secure the win and a new personal best.
