The weather was 83 degrees and very humid making for a difficult race day especially since the runners had not experienced this heat and humidity for three weeks.
In the guys race, 2nd ranked Minnehaha Academy (5-6-7-11-18) edged 12th ranked Blake School (1-2-14-15-17) by 2 points. Number one ranked Class A runner Brandon Clark from the Blake School ran alone after the first mile running 16:08 for the win. The race was exciting for second place as senior Owen Duncan of the Blake School moved from fourth to second in the last mile with a finishing time of 16:59 edging senior Steven Zeller of Concordia (17:01) and senior Christopher Lawson of St. Anthony Village (17:03). The remaining podium student-athletes in order were junior Luke Brown of Minnehaha Academy (17:12), junior Jacob Eggers of Minnehaha Academy(17:25), junior Mark Lind of Minnehaha Academy (17:29), junior Louis Wohletz of DeLaSalle (17:39), freshman Michael Destache of St. Paul Academy (17:44), and senior Michael Rosenberg of St. Anthony Village (17:49). Finishing 13th was freshman Evan Ferlic of MPA (brother of 2010 Class A State Champion).
In the gals race, 4th ranked Blake School (1-3-6-9-14) beat last year's conference champions Visitation (2-7-13-15-17) by 21 points. The top two runners ran alone for the entire race, with sophomore and 8th ranked Class A runner Clare Flanagan of the Blake School running a 15:36 and Martha Hubbell of Visitation running a 16:12. Junior Aliya Feroe of the Blake School and Allie Picard of St. Anthony Village put on a show for ninth place as they ran the last 100 side by side running at what seemed like an all out sprint with both runners finishing with a 17:10 (Aliya took the card for 9th place). The remaining podium student-athletes in order were freshman and 4th ranked Class A runner Jordan Chancellor of the Blake School (16:36), freshman Mary Naas of SPA (16:39), junior Nicole Nipper of Minnehaha Academy (16:41), freshman Carolyn Nye of the Blake School (16:46), sophomore Marta Seitz of Visitation (16:59), junior Casey Haffield of Minnehaha Academy (17:00).
