Tomorrow Perham will host the 3rd annual Brave Like Gabe Invitational which is one of the biggest meets of the early Minnesota cross country season. The meet will pit some of the best teams and runners Minnesota has to offer in an early-season clash of the elite of northern Minnesota.
The "Brave Like Gabe" movement honors Gabriele Grunewald, a professional runner, and rare cancer advocate. She founded the Brave Like Gabe Foundation to inspire people to share stories of being brave through their own struggles while also helping to find better and more effective treatments for rare cancer.
Gabriele Grunewald, was a native of Perham, Minnesota, and a graduate of Perham High School who inspired so many runners and non-runners alike as she battled cancer for more than a decade. Grunewald succumbed to her battle with cancer in June of 2019.
In Gabe's memory, we'd like to encourage you to donate to a cause she held near to her heart: Brave Like Gabe, the foundation she created to raise money and awareness for rare cancer research.
The teams participating include many teams from northern Minnesota and a few from Fargo, North Dakota!
Here we look at the projected individual race and the overall team races based on the participating runners previous best personal best 5K times.
