Brooks PR Invitational - Saturday, 6/15
Only two Minnesotans will be racing in Washington, but both are very familiar names.
Emily Covert, Minneapolis Washburn
Girls 2 mile - 5:51pm CST
After missing most of the track season to stress injuries, Emily Covert completed her tenacious comeback with a third place finish in the Class AA 3200m. At New Balance Nationals Outdoor last spring, Covert came within a second of winning the national two mile title. It's unclear what shape she's currently in after missing so much time. Regardless, a meet of this caliber at Covert's premier distance is a fitting way to cap off the most accomplished distance running career in Minnesota prep history.
Boys 800m - 7:20pm CST
Though most Minnesotans have been aware of AJ Green's talent ever since his dominant 800m victory at the 2018 State Meet, he flew under the national radar most of this year. That all changed when the junior dropped the first sub-1:50 time in the nation at his section meet, a barrier he'd break again en route to his second consecutive Class AA title. Green will be one of the favorites on Saturday.
