Meet Previews: Week Two Heats Up on Thursday

Thief River Falls Invitational

Location: Northland Community College Multi-Events Complex

Weather: mostly sunny, mid-60's

BOYS

Virtual Meet Projections: East Grand Forks (31), Roseau (62), Thief River Falls (69)

Individuals to Watch: Cole Nowacki (East Grand Forks, 16:00.2), Tyson Mahar (East Grand Forks (16:15.8), Jonathan Krueger (East Grand Forks, 17:00.1), Tristan Anderson (Roseau, 17:34.1)

The Skinny: East Grand Forks as the fastest three returners and should comfortably win the meet based on the strength of possibly going 1-2-3 individually. Senior Cole Nowacki of EGF is the favorite to win individually with the mostly likely challenger emerging from his own team. Our projections await the young crop of new runners to fill out team scores but the battle for second between Roseau and Thief River should a tight battle at every scoring position.

GIRLS

Virtual Meet Projections: East Grand Forks (27), Warroad (59), Thief River Falls (66)

Individuals to Watch: Lydia Floden (East Grand Forks, 19:54.3), Jerzie Finstad (Thief River Falls, 20:09.6), Marin Garrett (East Grand Forks, 20:22.0), Eliana Bleess (Warroad, 20:31.0)

The Skinny: East Grand Forks is the favorite on the girls side, led by Lydia Floden who could form a top five trio with teammates Marin Garrett and Dru Harbott that would be hard to overcome in a small field. We do not yet know which new runners will fill in the gaps in our team scoring projections but the individual race among seven returners with a PR within a minute of each other could make the first race for most of the teams very exciting to see unfold.
