RECAP: Coaches ranked no 3 White Bear Lake earned a quality victory on Wednesday with a 16:28 average over a 1:06 split, placing four in the top seven. WBL senior Max Nelson took the individual win over a quality field in 16:01 edging out his teammate and second place finisher senior Isaac Maruyama and third place athlete Minnetonka senior Max Lauerman. Second place Minnetonka averaged a 16:44 over a 60 second split.

GIRLS IND CHAMP: Ali Weimer, StMA, 18:12.2 | GIRLS TEAM CHAMP: St Michael-Albertville
RECAP: St Michael Albertville's elite 1-2 punch of Ali Weimer and Katie Sigerud took the top two places and the rest of the scoring five tucked inside the top ten and the Knights cruised to the win with just 23 points. STMA posted an 18:58 average over a 1:28 split. White Bear Lake senior Madeline Verkerke was third, joining the STMA front runners under 19 minutes on the day. Second place team WBL averaged 19:30 over a decent 55 second split.

BOYS IND CHAMP: Tyson Mahar, East Grand Forks, 16:09.5 | BOYS TEAM CHAMP: East Grand Forks

RECAP: Coaches poll no. 9 East Grand Forks took home a narrow three point win over Wadena-Deer Creek on Thursday. EGF went 1-2-3 led by junior Tyson Mahar win 16:09.5 but W-DC had the next three finishers and brought in its scorers first. Yet the difference would be the lower sticks at the front. EGF averaged a 17:18 but W-DC had just a 77 second split to almost pull off the minor upset. W-DC senior Bereket Loer led his team in fourth place with a 17:04.6.

GIRLS IND CHAMP: Kira Sweeney, Wadena-Deer Creek, 19:01.0 | GIRLS TEAM CHAMP: Hawley

RECAP: Hawley put four in the top eight to earn the victory. Despite Hawley having a 3:49 split and their fifth runner 19 places back of their fourth they posted a 21:20 average in a quality win. W-DC junior Kira Sweeney ran to the win in a season best 19:01 bettering second place finisher freshman Lydia Floden of EGF. Hawley was led by fourth place finisher, sophomore Lily Peterson in 19:51.1.

CLASS A BOYS CHAMP: Luke Olson, Ely, 16:53.4 | CLASS A BOYS TEAM CHAMP: Ely

RECAP: In what will surely be one of the closest meets of the week, Ely took the team title by three points over Proctor who was just two points ahead of third place North Shore. Ely was led by senior Luke Olson in 16:53.4. Ely had the fastest average of 18:24 but their split was nearly three minutes, allowing their opponents a chance to make up the points. Proctor made up 16 points in the fourth and fifth spot but could not over come the two top five finishers from Ely. North Shore had a faster average than Ely but their split was over two minutes, costing them the runner up position.

CLASS AA BOYS CHAMP: Jordan Allen, Cloquet, 17:06.2 | CLASS AA BOYS TEAM CHAMP: Cloquet

RECAP: Cloquet cruised to the team win with all five scorers inside the top seven and all seven in the top 11. Cloquet senior Jordan Allen was the individual champ in 17:06.2, 30 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, junior Isaac Fink of Duluth Denfeld. Cloquet averaged a 17:55, more than a minute better than second place, with a 75 second split.

CLASS A GIRLS CHAMP: Liz Nelson, Mountain Iron-Buhl, 20:24.5 | CLASS A GIRLS TEAM CHAMP: North Shore

RECAP: North Shore took the team victory with five in the top 16 and the closest split in the meet at 1:40. Mountain Iron-Buhl eighth grader Liz Nelson was the individual winner in 20:24.5. Three teams top runners placed ahead of North Shore no. 1, sophomore Autumn Smith but no one could match her team's placing three in the top eight. Only one other team had two in the top ten and North Shore made up the difference with the best fifth runner in the meet.

CLASS AA GIRLS CHAMP: Brita Birkland, Hermantown, 20:55.2 | CLASS AA GIRLS TEAM CHAMP: Cloquet

RECAP: Cloquet took the girls title with three in the top six while Hermantown senior Brita Birkland was the individual winner in 20:55.2. Cloquet used an advantage at the front, led by sophomore Harmony Tracy's runner-up finish, to overcome Duluth East putting five across the line first and having a faster split by almost two minutes. Duluth East was led by fifth place finisher Crystal Kaczmarczyk.

Little Falls Lucky Lindy CC Invitational

BOYS IND CHAMP: Emmet Anderson, Staples-Motley, 16:03.3 | BOYS TEAM CHAMP: Perham

RECAP: Perham showed their strength with a team title at Little Falls without top runner Brandon O'Hara. In an equally strong field of individuals, Staples-Motley junior Emmet Anderson edged defending state champ, Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin junior Geno Urhbom by three seconds. Perham still posted a 17:08 team average over a 76 second split to edge class AA Bemidji who was across a 77 second split with a 17:15 average but only one runner in the top ten.

GIRLS IND CHAMP: Katelyn Motter, Rocori, 19:14.6 | GIRLS TEAM CHAMP: Alexandria

RECAP: Alexandria used a tight split among five fast runners to take the team title. The Cardinals averaged a 19:48 across a slim 25 second split to knock off second place Rocori who was led by third place sophomore winner Katelyn Motter in 19:14.6 just three seconds ahead of runner-up, Staples-Motley eighth grader Kyanna Burton. Rocori had three runners in the top eight but Alexandria packed up well inside their fifth runner who was back in 31st.

Worthington Turkey Trot Invitational

BOYS IND CHAMP: Adam Koller, Worthington, 16:24.6 | BOYS TEAM CHAMP: Saint James Area

RECAP: MNXCCA class A no. 6 St James proved slightly deeper than host Worthington to take the team title by a tight margin. Worthington seniors Adam Koller and Christian Lietz went 1-2, both under 16:35 but it was not enough to take the team win. St James senior Seth Pierson was just behind Lietz in third, one of three runners from his team to place in the top nine. St James also had all seven in front of Worthington's fifth runner.

GIRLS IND CHAMP: Morgan Gehl, Murray County Central-Fulda, 18:06.5 |  GIRLS TEAM CHAMP: Murray County Central-Fulda

RECAP: Led by new state leader junior Morgan Gehl, MNXCCA no. 9 Murray County Central-Fulda won a very close girls team title. Just five points separated MCC-F from second place and coaches no. 1 Luverne who was only two points ahead of Fairmont in third. Gehl finished over fifty seconds ahead of runner-up Luverne sophomore Tenley Nelson who was twenty seconds better than third place Fairmont sophomore Laura Thompson. Despite a 3:36 split MCC-F held off Luverne who also had a large split of 2:50.
