The Star Tribune named their Metro Runners of the Year winners this week and they both hailed from the historic Stillwater program. Analee Weaver and Ethan Vargas won the prestigious awards after both winning the de-facto state meet this year at the TCRC XC Showcase.
Both Weaver and Vargas came into the season with big expectations and neither disappointed. Weaver after winning the MSHSL Class AA meet in 2019, went undefeated in 2020 in Minnesota, broke the high school state record for the 5k, and improved her 5k PR by 45 seconds in her senior season. This is the second year Weaver has won the award.
Vargas ended his season strong last fall by finishing 10th at state with a then PR of 15:55.00. He then came into 2020 strong and ended up winning all his races, PR'ing by 24 seconds, and winning the TCRC XC Showcase.
