Meet Your Fall Cross Country Boys and Girls Poll Finalists

Meet the runners who are the finalists in the boys and girls poll for who won the fall 2020 cross country season. Three of the runners hail from MSHSL Class A and one girl runs for Class AA. Thank you to everyone who has helped choose our finalists, the final poll will start tomorrow December 27th, and run until 6 pm on New Year's Eve.

Greenway High School

2020 Best 5k Time: 15:58.70

2020 Wins: Section 7A Championship, Deer River War Eagles Tri

Staples-Motley High School

Final Coaches Ranking: Class A #1

Both of the boy's runners hail from MSHSL Class A. Uhrbom and Anderson are both 2021 graduates and have a long-standing friendly rivalry between each other. They have faced each other eleven times since 2016 where they first met in the state championships. Uhrbom has won seven of those matchups, including all the head-to-head races at the MSHSL state championships. They only faced each other once during this 2020 cross country season with Anderson prevailing in the defacto state championships via the TCRC Xc Showcase. 


Ashley Overgaauw

Murray County Central High School

Molly Moening

Saint Paul Highland Park

2020 Best 5k Time: 17:49.00

Wins: St. Paul City Conference Championships, Highland Park Tri, St. Paul "Moore Cowbell" Invitational, Nova Classical Academy Tri

Final Coaches Ranking: Class AA #9

Overgaauw and Moening have never faced off head-to-head and have only run at the same meet one at the 2019 MSHSL State Championships. Altogether they were only separated by 10 seconds for their 2020 XC season PRs. They both ran in seven races this fall and they both finished first or second in every race. Overgaauw for her season finished her 5k with an average time of 18:29.65 and Moening finished with an average time of 18:38.83.
