There are 18 different boys and girls track and field events in Minnesota. That means there are 18 girls' and boys' state records. A fair amount of those records have been broken in the past five years such as the boys 100m and 200m record (Joseph Fahnbulleh), the boy's pole vault record (Calvin Ciganik), the girls 3200m record (Emily Covert), and the girl's triple jump record (Allyson Weiss).

Some of the records have been longstanding such as the boys long jump record held by Von Shepard since 1982, or the girls 4x100m relay held since 2004. Most of the records though have been broken in the last 15 years.

Let's look at the overall state records for Minnesota high school athletes, and see what current athletes are on the verge of breaking any of the MSHSL state records.
