We at Minnesota MileSplit recently caught up with Centennial High School Landen Liu. Liu is one of the top sprinters in Minnesota, a state champion, and a Bethel University commit. We talked with Liu about his start in track and field, his future, and what his goals are for this season.
How did you first get interested and involved in track and field?
My mom had me try cross-country in 6th grade. After trying cross-country, I tried track and field, but instead of being a sprinter, I was a distance runner. I didn't try sprinting till 7th grade, and I balanced being a distance runner and a sprinter in both 7th and 8th grade as I'd run the 1600m and 100m. It wasn't until my freshman year I became focused entirely on sprinting.
You are one of the top sprints returners in Minnesota this season, how does it feel to see all your hard work pay off?
I'd say it feels pretty...
