Another talented 1600m is the freshman out of Park Rapids, Ephraim Bervig. Bervig coming out of the 2021 track and field season, had a 1600m PR of 5:08.02. In two indoor meets this season so far, he has exceeded all expectations en route to two PRs in the 1600m as seen below:
1600 Meter Run 2022
While he may not be winning races yet, the big gains in the 1600m make Bervig a runner to watch out for. He currently holds the lead among all freshmen in Minnesota with his time of 4:43.40 and is currently ranked #22 in Minnesota for the indoor 1600m.

Most runners run faster on outdoor tracks (if conditions allow), and it will be interesting to see if Bervig can make another big leap once he runs outdoors. Either way, he is off to a very impressive start to his season.
