It's early in the season and with the indoor season coming to an end (hopefully), 8th-grader Emma Kvant of STMA has already made quite an impression by jumping 16' 5" in the long jump at her most recent meet. That mark is good enough for 3rd all-time by a Minnesota girls 8th grader and would be tied for 49th all-time by the same group if translated to the outdoor rankings.

This is Kvant's first track and field season, and she has already shown remarkable improvement in all her events so far, but especially in the long jump where she is up over 3 feet from her first meet.

This also puts her in elite company for her class, with her mark of 16' 5" being one of only seven qualifying marks for a girl over 16 feet in her class.
