Sections have just started and boy is it off to a hot start with a new state record, huge PRs, upsets, and now an all-time great boys 3200m race out of Section 6AAA.
On day one of the MSHSL Section 6AAA Track and Field Championships, some of the best boys distance runners in Minnesota toed the line in Noah Breker, Sam Scott, and Aidan Jones. By the time they crossed the finish line, we had three new PRs, a new state best time, and three new top thirty 3200m times of all-time by a Minnesota boy.

All the boys smashed their old personal bests in the 3200m. Special shoutout to Alex Foss who ran a 9:18 for a 22-second PR for fourth place.

Breker is now the state leader in the 3200m with Scott coming in second place. Nick Gilles ranks third overall with his time of 9:05.52 from last week's Lake Conference Championships, followed in fourth by Aidan Jones.

As you can see below, the three boys times put them in the top 21 times all-time in our database, alongside current junior Nick Gilles in 17th. If we put them in the Bill Miles rankings (includes converted 2-mile times and older results), Breker ranks 17th all-time, Scott ranks 21st, Gilles ranks 22nd, and Jones ranks 26th.

As far as class rankings go, Breker is now 6th all-time in the 3200m as a sophomore boy, followed by Gilles in 9th, and Jones in 12th. Scott a Sophomore, ranks 4th all-time among all Minnesota sophomore boys.
With all the all-time great times in the boys 3200m this spring, the 3200m races at the state championships are lining up to be some all-time great fields. Maybe someone will join the elusive sub-9-minute 3200m club in Minnesota. Only 6 boys runners all-time are in that exclusive group.
