Borgmeier and Gunnarson: World Class Adaptive Athletes

---

The sky's the limit, might be the best way to describe Adaylia Borgmeier and Tyler Gunnarson, Minnesota's star adaptive athletes! Both Borgmeier and Gunnarson are two of the United States brightest stars in the adaptive track and field realm, and with the trajectory they are both on, the rest of the world will know their names.

Both athletes had arguably the most impressive seasons in 2023 that any Minnesota track and field athlete has ever had. Check out their ridiculous season's below:

Both Borgmeier and Gunnarson were most recently at the World Abilitysport Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand where some of the world's top emerging adaptive athletes came together to compete in track and field events.

Designed to give aspiring Paralympians and emerging athletes their first taste of international competition, the Games have helped produce many of the world's big-name Paralympic stars.

It was at the 2023 World Abilitysport Games where Borgmeier and Gunnarson set themselves apart from the pack and established themselves as current U20 stars and future star on the world stage.

Borgmeier really set herself apart from the pack en route to a haul of six medals and six new national U17 records in all her events. She beat her old previous records in all events, other than the 100m and 400m when she beat Hannah Dederick's records.

Her main rival at the games was Thailand's Aritaya Premphol who took the gold in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m. Premphol also finished 2nd to Borgmeier in the 100m and 200m.

Overall, the United States won 45 medals at the games, with Borgmeier and Gunnarson winning 25% of the medals won by the US.

With Borgmeier only being a freshman and Gunnarson being a junior, they both have plenty of time to break records, lower their times in Minnesota to unreachable levels, and more before they both embark on to the world stage again as U20 athletes and maybe even beyond to the Paralympics.
