Downin Breaks Indoor Records...In Delaware!

Abby Downin was a rising star for Edina High School in Minnesota, at Edina, she went to three state cross country championships, finished 9th in the 800m state championships as a freshman, and even won a prestigious Hamline Elite Meet title. 

While accomplished in Minnesota, Downin has upped her game as a sophomore since moving to Delaware and competing for Tatnall High School. 

For Tatnall this season, Downin has run races from the 800m up to the mile, setting new PRs, competing in some of the East Coast's most prestigious meets, and breaking records. 

In her most recent race at the Ocean Breeze Elite Invitational in Staten Island, New York, Downin competed in the 800m, finishing 2nd overall with a time of 2:09.74 in the nation's fastest girls 800m race this season.

Of the 6 girls above, Lilley ranks #5 nationally in the 800m this indoor season, Downin ranks 6th, Flanagan ranks 9th, Walsh ranks 10th, Wimbish ranks 12th and McNally ranks 18th. 

Apart from owning a top ten 800m time this season and finishing as the Ocean Breeze Elite runner-up, Downin also broke the Delaware indoor track and field 800m state record.

Downin broke the previous record held by Reagan Anderson who ran her time of 2:10.43 back in 2013 at the Brooks PR Invitational. 

Apart from her 800m exploits this season, Downin has also become one of the nation's best milers, owning a new PR of 4:54.39 from the Armory Officials Hall of Fame Invitational

With her time of 4:54.39, Downin ranks as the #4 mile runner in Delaware state indoor history and also ranks her as the #32 runner nationally this season, and the #5 runner in her class. 

Since departing Minnesota, Downin has seen her star rise steadily, establishing herself as one of the emerging talents in national distance running. Her impressive performances and dedication have garnered widespread attention and acclaim, solidifying her position as a formidable force in the sport.
