It's Championships Galore On Conference Tuesday!

Location: Central Park in Brooklyn Park

Weather: High 60s and sunny at racetime

BOYS

Top Teams: Maple Grove (19 points), Minnetonka (B team, 65 points)

Top Individuals: Blake Iverson (Maple Grove, 16:16), CJ Young (Maple Grove, 16:35), Patrick Mclean (Maple Grove 16:49), Zackary Anderson (Spectrum, 17:02)

The Skinny:

With Minnetonka sitting out their top varsity guys, this looks like it'll be a race dominated by Maple Grove. Iverson has had an incredible season, placing in the top 4 in every race he's ran, and he should be able to capture his first victory of the season here. His teammate Young has also had a strong 2017, and he'll look to close the small gap between himself and Iverson: it was only 11 seconds at their conference meet. And without much competition, assuming they run their top guys, Maple Grove should cruise to the win in a near perfect score.

GIRLS

Top Teams: Minnetonka (B squad, 25 points), Providence Academy (53 points)

Top Individuals: Emma Kelly (Providence, 19:58), Taylor Lundquist (Heritage Christian, 20:08), Anna Cherian (Minnetonka, 20:11)

The Skinny: After taking out Minnetonka's top seven, their team is deep enough that they're still projected to win this meet handily. Projected to go 3-4-5-6-7 in the virtual meet, barring something going wrong or treating the race like a workout, they should take the win. Individually, Emma Kelly is the only runner to have gone sub-20 on the year, though Lundquist and Cherian have each come very close. With no clear frontrunner, an upset of Kelly is certainly feasible. However, with strong consistency over the course of this season, Kelly is the favorite on paper.
